They have not been taken care of very well as you can see, but I noticed using a magnifying glass that there are two faint circle marks next to each other, sort of hidden inside the prints. The first mark looks like two circles, one inside the other. The other marking next to it looks like a circle with letters, numbers or something else inside it. I know there at least 60 years old, but not sure if they are any older. Can you please shed some light as the markings and age.? Thanks!! These prints are all framed sometime in the 1960s area.
1 - "Central-Park, Winter. The Skating Pond". New York Published by Currier & Ives, 152 Nassau St. On the bottom left is Currier & Ives, Lith. N.Y. and On the bottom right is C.Parsons.Del. On the bottom center reads "Entered According to Act of Congress in the year 1862 by Currier & Ives in the clerk's office of the district court of the United States, for the Southern District of New York".
I believe it is a print (reproduction) because its colors are a bit faded. From what I am reading is that C Parsons stopped printing early 1900s, but I am not sure when this would have been printed and of its value. Can you give me some history on this print?
I was also given "The life of a Fireman" and "American Farm Scenes" with no info on or around the print.
I was also given "The Season of Blossoms" bottom left reads "F F Palmer, Del." bottom right reads "Reprinted from Currier & Ives, Lith." bottom center reads "Entered According to act of Congress AD 1865, by Currier & Ives, the Clerks Office of the district Court of the United States, for the District of Southern District of N.Y."
the next print is "Winter Pastime" bottom left F. It ...I have a print entitled the beautiful Persian. It is done in the style very similar to Josephine. The stock is now a bit brittle, but it feels soft/rough, and about 1.5 times as thick as current cheap children's construction paper. It seems fibrous, not slick or silky at all.The painting is often "out of the lines - for instance, she wears a double strand of double pearls and they are painted by a brush going through them longways all at once, not in small circles for each pearl. The subject is a round faced girl with heavier eyebrows, long dark hair, one heavy strand is twisted, (not braided) and she has a sort of Mona-Lisa smile. She is with a tan dog with a long face and crossed paws. Though her face is very well developed, the hand around the dog is notably devoid of detail. The fingers are smooth, not knuckled and the nails are unremarkable. The oval portrait part is 11 inches high by 9 inches wide- on a sheet that is 10 by 14 inches. Two lines of type. Top line is a plain outline font and reads, "THE BEAUTIFUL PERSIAN." with the odd period at the end. The second line is in and it reads, " PUBLISHED BY CURRIER AND IVES 152 NASHUA STREET NEW YORK" and that is all there is on the page. This has been in a wooden frame under glass with a thin slab of wood backing it for decades.
